CAT Exam Structure
The CAT (Common Admission Test) exam consists of three sections:
Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC)
Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR)
Quantitative Ability (QA)
Each section has a specific time limit and the total duration of the exam is 120 minutes. The number of questions in each section may vary from year to year.
Eligibility Criteria for CAT
To be eligible for the CAT exam, candidates must have a Bachelor's degree with at least 50% marks or equivalent GPA. For SC, ST and PWD (Persons with Disability) candidates, the percentage is reduced to 45%. Candidates appearing for the final year of Bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply. It is important to note that each IIM shortlists candidates for their second stage of selection independently and criteria may vary across IIMs.
